TOM SAMULAK

“I love my job. I get to make people dance.”

Tom Samulak is an eclectic guitarist who has energetically devoted himself to making music and mastering his instrument. After recently graduating from the Selkirk College Contemporary Music Program in Nelson, BC, Tom is packing up his guitar and heading to Europe for Summer 2009. Tom will begin his journey in Denmark attending the internationally recognized Copenhagen Jazz Festival before working his way through Germany, Belgium, Holland, and France. While Tom plans to visit several other countries as well at this time his schedule has not been confirmed.

Tom has been recognized nationally for his music by winning the prestigious Fred Sherratt Award for graduating college and university musicians from across Canada.

The CARAS (Canadian Association of Recording Arts and Sciences) MusiCounts Award was presented to Tom in Toronto at the CTV studios by Much Music and CHUM radio executive award namesake Fred Sherratt as well as etalk TV host Tanya Kim on Tuesday July 9, 2009.

As a lead, Tom is considered one of the very best. His dedication and focus has allowed him to constantly strive for excellence. He is able to sustain distinct, intricate solos that blend perfectly with the style of music being played. His unmistakable sound has earned him the nickname “Tonemaster” by his friends in the music business. His solos always bring the crowd to its feet and fill the dance floor. Tom has been busy playing shows, recording, and jamming with some of the Western Canada's best musicians in every style including funk, blues, hip hop, country, classic rock, bluegrass, jazz and his personal favourite, fusion.

Summer 2008 saw Tom playing with a great group of friends supporting singer songwriter, Kiesza, on the Rockaganza tour.  The tour is the subject of an upcoming TV documentary that hopefully, will make it to air in the upcoming year.
